The Ultimate Small Fly Selection, during the summer months it is essential that you start to fish with smaller and more representative flies. We have created this selection of Midges & Aphids which work exceptionally well on all UK waters. Here we have a selection of 32 flies, twelve different patterns - all supplied in one of our super-slim silicone fly boxes - to stop your flies blowing away!
When fishing smaller flies, it is essential that you also consider your whole outfit, and match the diameter of the tippet to the fly being used (try 7x with the size 18 to 24 flies). Then match the tippet size to the leader & fly line, and then the rod. I generally favour a long (medium action) lightweight rod for this type of dry fly fishing (I use a 9 foot 2 weight). You need to make as little disturbance to the water as possible (to that end, DO NOT wade if you don't have to).

Para Aphid. An easy-to-see small greenfly imitation, green body and pink sighting post. Selection includes 2 each of sizes 20 and 24.
Generic Aphid. A generic aphid imitation with a green body and white wings. Selection includes 2 each of sizes 20 and 24.
Krystal-Loop Greenfly. A greenfly imitation. with a Krystal flash looped wing. Selection includes 2 each of sizes 20 and 24.
Krystal Midge. A super small midge imitation. with a Krystal flash tail. Selection includes 2 each of sizes 20 and 24.
Tufted Zebra Nymph - A firm favourite in the USA where it is the "go to" fly when all else fails for those picky fish. We supply 2 of these, both size 18. Weight = 0.040g
Knotted Midge - What a stunning fly this is, it imitates all midge/gnats, and is deadly in the midday sun, with its flash body wrap. We supply 2 of these, both size 18.
Zebra Nymph - The same fly as above but without the flash tufts, for a slimmer profile and quicker sink rate. Another firm favourite in the USA where it is the "go to" fly when all else fails for those picky fish. We supply 2 of these, both size 18. Weight = 0.045g
Griffiths Sparkle Gnat - A staple in the river anglers' fly box. This pattern takes fish all year round in all weathers. We supply 2 of these, both size 18.
Black Micro Midge - A small bead-headed black midge pupae imitation, with a small amount of flash on the abdomen and a copper wire wrap. We supply 2 of these, both size 18. Weight = 0.045g
Sparkle Arsed Indicator Gnat - A small black midge dry fly imitation, with a bright pink post and a sparkle tail/arse. We supply 2 of these, both size 18.
Olive Micro Midge - A small bead-headed olive midge pupae imitation, with a small amount of flash on the abdomen and a copper wire wrap. We supply 2 of these, both size 18. Weight = 0.046g
Poly-winged Black Gnat - Another small black midge dry fly imitation, with a white poly post. We supply 2 of these, both size 18.
