March Brown Selection - one of our Early Season flies.
Our new selection contains 20 March Brown imitations - nymphs, emergers and duns - all you need for a great day on the water in March. A collection of March Brown imitations. These are great early season flies.
When fishing with March Brown imitations here are a few tips:
Dry Flies - The two main dry fly forms of imitation for the March Brown are the Emerger and the Dun. Use one of the CdC March Browns to imitate the emerger and just treat the tips of the CdC - this will sit the fly are the correct angle to imitate the emerging insect. One of the best treatments for all flies tied with CdC is Weatherby's Dry Fly Powder - use it to refresh your fly once it's taken a dunking.
Nymphs - Always target the faster-flowing water and riffles - I always head towards any water that I can hear, the March Brown nymph is a 'stone-clinger' and favours the fast water so make sure that your nymph is bouncing along the riverbed. If it helps you can try a dry fly as an indicator for any takes (aka. Duo or Klink n Dink method).
