Artisan Flies - The Summer Dry Fly Selection
These are the very best quality flies on the market today - and are available to you directly (and only) from us. We cannot praise these flies highly enough - they are the best quality commercial flies we've ever seen - and we have over half a million flies pass through our doors every year - yes, they are that good!
During the summer months, it is essential that you start to fish with smaller and more representative flies. We have created this selection of smaller summer dry flies which work exceptionally well on all UK waters.
When fishing smaller flies, it is essential that you also consider your whole outfit, and match the diameter of the tippet to the fly being used (try 7x with the size 18 to 24 flies). Then match the tippet size to the leader & fly line, and then the rod. I generally favour a long (medium action) lightweight rod for this type of dry fly fishing (I use a 9 foot 2 weight). You need to make as little disturbance to the water as possible (to that end, DO NOT wade if you don't have to).
