We've done a "Coffee Collaboration" with local Forge Valley Roasters - The Barbless Blend
Hidden on the banks of my local river (The Yorkshire Derwent) was a new small business, dedicated to roasting coffee - I drive past it twice a day to get to Barbless Flies HQ.
It's called Forge Valley Roasters, and they ticked all my boxes:
- Small Local Startup Business - tick
- Fantastic Coffee - tick
- A Great Ethos & Outlook - tick; and best of all
- It's ran from a place called Fisherman's Cottage
It's very obvious that both Chris an Tash (the founders) are very passionate about all things coffee.
We found that as we were both small businesses (and with our joint love of coffee) we had lots in common - a collaboration seemed the obvious next step!
Enter the Barbless Blend ...
Both Chris and Tash are really passionate about coffee, and came up with the idea of a coffee that you could drink all day long - rather than just drinking it to give you a boost in the morning.
A coffee with a fantastic taste (see below) and half the caffeine of regular coffee - and so, the Barbless Blend Session Coffee was born!
Our Barbless Blend - Session Coffee is now available to order, in packs of 3 x 100g resealable bags - perfect for keeping your coffee in tip-top condition.
But ...
If you cannot decide which coffee to go for? Then for an introduction to their coffees, why not give their Forge Valley Roasters Taster Selection a go. Your box will contain 3 x 100g bags of specialty coffee roasted by Chris at the roastery in East Ayton, North Yorkshire.
The Forge Valley Roasters Taster Selection (which includes our Barbless Blend Session Coffee), comprises of:
Coffee #3 - Single Origin: Ethiopia Dari
The Barbless Blend:
Roasted fresh to order with the utmost care, this exquisite blend combines the best of our single-origin beans from Brazil and Colombia. You'll savor the rich, nutty notes of the Brazilian Topazio and the vibrant, almond and citrus fruit flavors of the Colombian Sugar Cane Process Decaf from Tolima. But here's the best part: this blend has only half the caffeine content of our regular coffee! That means you can enjoy twice as many cups without feeling jittery. It's the ideal choice for those crisp autumn mornings and long days by the river.
Brazil Single Origin:
Sourced from the picturesque Carmo da Cachoeira region in Minas Gerais, this natural-processed coffee is grown at an altitude of 1020 meters, resulting in a cup that is both complex and balanced. The Topazio varietal offers a delightful profile of nougat, toffee, and a juicy mouthfeel, with a lingering honey finish. COCATREL, a leading cooperative in Brazil, is committed to sustainable agriculture and social responsibility. Their dedication to environmental stewardship and empowering female coffee producers shines through in every cup.
Ethiopia Single Origin:
Sourced from the ancient lands of Ethiopia, these heirloom varietals arrive with an SCA cup score of 87.5, a crown jewel in the world of coffee. The natural process unleashes a cascade of dark berry aromas and smooth milk chocolate. This lot constitutes a portion of the coffee production sourced from one of the esteemed washing stations, owned and meticulously managed by Mr. Abiyot. The station, known as Dari, is strategically situated in the picturesque Dola region of western Guji. Buno General Trading, the company behind the washing station, is committed to community development and has established a school near the station to benefit the entire local community.
