As we are now just getting into the Grayling season (I know it may not seem like it with the unseasonably warmer weather we're currently experiencing) and the fish are still spread all over the river (as soon as the frosts start to bite, Grayling will shoal up), I thought it would be a good time to do a deep dive into Grayling-specific leaders and techniques.

These specialist nymphing lines were requested by us after extensive testing at this time last year. We asked for this specific colour becuase it stood out really well against all of the autumnal bank-side backgrounds - it's like a Beige / Dark Ivory colour. Jack and I had an entertaining discussion on what we call the colour, I wanted to call it something really pretentious - like 'Poached Smoke' - but Jack won the day and we've called it Dark Ivory:

Our 'man in Bosnia' has been at it again - with some more very tempting nymphs - especially tied for success in late Autumn & all through Winter. We try to plan all of our fly selection at least 3 months in advance, when asked what we were planning for the Autumn/Winter preiod, we wanted to do something a little different, so we asked him to surprise us and tie something which he would use himself, for trout, grayling and softmouth trout in Bosnia.

Today is the closing day of the trout season on my local river - as you're reading this I will probably have just left Gregg's with a few sausage rolls and a coffe - and heading down to the river to get my last 'trout' fix of the year - althought if I'm honest, I would prefer to hook into a few Grayling, as they are just sytarting to show themselves.

Grayling are my favourite species, and what better way to tempt one than with a dry fly?
