A Christmas Carol (But With Fly Rods)

Morning Everyone,

It was Christmas Eve 2024 ...

There I was - fourth pint in, sat by the fire at my local - when three spirits visited me. Well, not spirits exactly. More like three crushing realisations about fly fishing that hit me like a December Grayling on 7X.

The Ghost of Christmas Fishing Past

"Every Rod I've Ever Owned Was Designed By Someone Who's Never Fished UK Rivers"

Picture this: Me, thigh-deep in the Derwent in January. Grayling feeding like mad. And I'm fishing with a rod designed by some bloke in Idaho who thinks "nymphing" means lobbing an indicator rig 25 yards.

It seems like every single rod I've ever owned was designed in the USA by people who've never dealt with UK distances (8-15 yards), 6X tippet that snaps if you look at it wrong, duo rigs that need sensitivity, or Grayling that take like your mate Dave 'borrowing' a tenner - barely notice.

I wanted a rod that was brilliant at just ONE job: nymphing on UK rivers. That rod didn't exist.

The Ghost showed me my wasted years of fishing with gear designed for someone else's water. Years of thinking "this is fine" when it absolutely wasn't.

The Ghost of Christmas Fishing Present

"This Year, We Actually Built The Thing"

Fast forward to June 2025. I'm sat (virtually) with 50 anglers (our Pisces Collective) and we're designing a rod from scratch.

Here's what we built:

  • Sensitive tip(s) - Feel if a grayling so much as breathes on your nymph
  • Progressive middle - Doesn't snap 6X every time something takes
  • 9' 2wt - Loads at UK distances, not American or competition ranges
  • Light enough - Fish it all day without your arm falling off

We called it the Pisces 1

I've tested it against everything. European rods too stiff. American rods too soft. Czech tanks too heavy. "All-rounders" - all average.

This one just works. Trout on the Test. Grayling on the Dove. Single flies, duo rigs, French nymphing, Czech nymphing (even double-hauling a dry fly) - it handles actual UK river sizes and conditions.

The Ghost of Christmas Fishing Future

"You Can Actually Buy This Thing"

The Ghost showed me two visions:

Vision One: You, Boxing Day 2025, still using that American-designed rod that's almost-but-not-quite right. Another season of wondering if that was a take or just the current.

Vision Two: You, Boxing Day 2025, on the river with the Pisces 1. Feeling every take. Playing fish confidently on fine tippet. Using gear designed for where you actually fish.

Which future do you want?

Limited to only 50 rods. Ever.
(with only 9 rods remaining)

Only £345 (including FREE Next Day Delivery)

Order by midnight on Sunday, 21st December, and you can be fishing with it on Boxing Day.

Would You Like One ...

The last of our Pisces 1 - Nymph 9'0" 2wt rods are now available to buy. You can grab yours by clicking on any button or image within this email. All Pisces Collective members already have theirs (and from the reviews I'm getting, they are putting them to good use this grayling season). I'm now making the remaining few available to our email community - there's only 9 remaining.

Our Pisces 1 rod is priced at only £345, which, for a specialist nymphing rod with this specification, is a bit of a bargain. We currently have these rods in the office just waiting for a new (Christmas) home.

If you place an order before midnight on Sunday, 21st December, you could be fishing with it on Boxing Day!

As always, should you have any questions about our rod, just reply to this email (or give me a call - 0330 66 00 587), and I'd be more than happy to answer them.

Gift yourself something really special this year.

Merry Christmas.

P.S. Unlike Scrooge's visions, this one comes with a money-back guarantee.
