Even Easier Take Detection with our Specialist 'Euro Style' Nymphing Fly Line

Well, here it is ... Our Specialist 'Euro Style' Fly Line. Just in time for this year's Grayling season to really get going.
These specialist nymphing lines were requested by us after extensive testing at this time last year. We asked for this specific colour becuase it stood out really well against all of the autumnal bank-side backgrounds - it's like a Beige / Dark Ivory colour. Jack and I had an entertaining discussion on what we call the colour, I wanted to call it something really pretentious - like 'Poached Smoke' - but Jack won the day and we've called it Dark Ivory:
With most nymphing lines, you have to feel the takes through your fingers. We wanted something which was much more visual, so we asked a line manufacturer if they had anything which fitted the specification we sent them:
It had to be:
- Very thin - thin lines cut through the air easily and can be fished (without tangles) on even the windiest of days. We love the way they are much easier to manage than either mono or braid.
- Ultra-sensitive - meaning you can feel the flies on the river-bed
- Very visual - a neutral colour which stands out both against the water and the bank-side.
- Castable - which allows the line to be used in both longer-range and close/tight-line situations
They have come up with the goods and have sent us an initial allocation of 50 lines (in two colour variations), which we are releasing today. I've tested them with our NEW Pisces 1 Nymphing rod and they tick all of the above boxes (and more)!
Also, towards the end of this email, you will find some 'Top Tips' on how and where to get started when nymphing for Grayling this Autumn.
Here's the nymphing line in action on the Yorkshire Derwent last week:
These lines have been designed to be used specifically with the longer Nymphing rods (i.e. lightweight - 2wt to 4wt rods which are 9ft, or over, in length), but I have found they work equally as well with shorter rods when nymphing in those really hard to get at areas! I believe that there are no other lines like these on the market (and definitely not at this price).
Our Specialist 'Euro Style' Nymphing Fly Lines have the following properties:
- Very Thin - 0.55mm level line
- They Float - for when you need to change styles and nymph at longer ranges
- Micro-welded loops on each end of the fly line
- Total Length - 100ft (30m)
- Low-Stretch braided core
- Two Colour Variations, either:
- Dark Ivory; or
- Dark Ivory & White

We are selling our Specialist Nymphing Fly Lines for only £27.50. Just click on any image or button within this section of the email to view more details and get yours today.
GRAYLING FISHING AND SPECIALIST NYMPHING FLY LINES
When you're fishing for Grayling it’s usually in late Autumn or Winter and you’re lucky if you can feel your fingers at all, never mind a thin fly line. To that end we wanted to do something much more visual and after lots of reading (and testing) we have come up with this micro-thin diameter coloured nymph line, this makes it super easy to detect takes both by feel and sight.
Nine times out of ten when you're nymph fishing for Grayling, you’re either watching your line against the water (which is usually coloured) or against the far bank (which is usually green) - Having the line coloured means you can easily see the line, and detect even the slightest of takes. Having the line thin with a low stretch core, means you can also feel the flies on the river bed - the best of both worlds.
Go on you know you want to!
We've also just received more stock of our hugely popular ...
The Tungsten Grayling Selection
Our Updated (for 2025/26) Barbless Grayling Selection is a selection of 4 of the most popular styles of weighted grayling nymphs, in total there are 20 flies supplied in our eco-friendly packaging. All of these nymphs are tied using barbless hooks, in sizes 10, 12, 14 and 16. Our selection includes:
- Tungsten Grayling Bomb - One of the most successful grayling nymphs available. Tied to represent a pink shrimp with a double high-density tungsten bead. This fly is best fished as a point fly using the tight-line nymphing method. Our selection contains two each of sizes 10, 12, 14 & 16.
- Grayling Pink Nymph - Another great nymph for grayling, ideal when fished on the dropper of a tight-line rig (with the grayling bomb - above). This fly also acts like a spider fly, with the hackle tied in the middle of the hook. Our selection contains two each of sizes 14 & 16.
- Grayling Special Nymph - This pattern is a great searching pattern for grayling. It's slim profile allows it to sink through the water column quickly. We have had real success with this fished on its own upstream. Our selection contains two each of sizes 14 & 16.
- Copperknob Tungsten Nymph - Again, another searching pattern. Similar to the popular red-tag pattern, this is tied with a red tail and hare's ear body, weighted with a high-density tungsten bead and copper wire. Our selection contains two each of sizes 14 & 16.
In total, our 2025/26 Grayling Selection contains 20 flies - all for only £30.

Tips On Early Season Grayling Fishing
Before the winter frosts, Grayling will not be shoaled up, therefore it’s important to fish where the grayling are (I know it sounds obvious!). Therefore the likely spots are exactly where you would find trout:
- Gravel bottoms
- In the seam of two currents
- In the foam line – Remember “foam is your home”
- Just off and around weed beds
Grayling have an under-slung mouth, they are bottom feeders. If you cannot see them rising, you need to present your flies on the river bed. Remember, if you’re not catching the bottom with your flies, you are not fishing deep enough (try using a heavier point fly).
Here are the ideal places to target:
- Look for deeper, slower water - Grayling do not like structure, so look for uniform flows
- Look for creases, especially slow water which is just off a faster current
- Grayling are a long, thin delicate fish, they do not like to sit in the river flow, due to the amount of energy they need to expend just to stay still. They have a thin wrist, which means they do not have lots of power in their tail to fight against the flow
Grayling are very tolerant of anglers - they don’t spook as easily as trout. I’ve even had grayling take insects off my waders whilst stood in the river fishing!
Remember: Grayling are a shoal fish in the main. Once you’ve caught one - stand still and cast again – you’re more than likely to catch another.
Tight (Nymphing) Lines.
