The Summer Success Selection

Our "Summer Success Selection" - Gives yourself the best possible chance in July & August.

We've trawled thorugh all of the engagement we've had with all of our customers in July and August for the past few years - trying to workout which flies are the most successful (which is very different from flies which are the most popular)! Next time you are out, try tying one of these on, they're almost guaranteed to get some interest!

Our Summer Success Selection is available in two different packages:

• "Summer Success" Flies Only - The full "Summer Success" fly selection (includes Last Hope's, Jinglers, Double Badgers etc); or
• "Summer Success" Full Bundle - Includes all of the flies contained in the above, with the addition of a stunning 16ft French Leader, which is perfect for delivering these flies. It's everything you need for your summer river fishing.

Flies Only Option

Our "Summer Success" selection is a set of 16 flies to save you a blank this summer! All of these flies have been used successfully in July & August by our customers over the past few years, and are noted for their blank-saving ability.

Descriptions of each fly:

Double Badger - One of the best flies, and many anglers only fly, used in the summer months. Great in warm still conditions on rivers with a low flow, spooky fish and low levels. This selection contains 2 each of size 18.

Last Hope (Light) - With a white thread body and small white hackle, this fly is a great small caenis imitation. This selection contains 2 each of sizes 16 and 18.

Last Hope (Dark) - With a peacock herl body and small white hackle, this fly is a great small gnat & caenis imitation. This selection contains 2 each of sizes 16 and 18.

The Jingler - An imitation of the Large Dark Olive, this fly is fished dry and sits just in the miniscus. This selection contains 2 each of size 16.

John Storey - This fly, named after a river keeper on the Ryedale Anglers Club, is a favourite on the Yorkshire rivers. Tied with a peacock herl body, cock hackle and mallard wing sloping over the front of the fly. This selection contains 2 each of size 18.

Split-Wing CdC Olive - With a slim quill like body and CdC split wings, these really do imitate the Blue Winged Olive and are ideal during afternoon hatches. With the wings tied in a slight 'V' formation, these sit just right on the water surface. This selection contains 2 each of size 18.

Supplied with the Complete Summer Bundle are the most popular patterns from the information gathered by us over the past few years.

16ft French Style Tapered Leader

This French Leader is made up of an extremely long tapered leader made from monofilament. The taper is made up of a steep but gradual taper, designed to be fished on long and soft fly rods. 

The advantage of using a French leader is that you can present your small flies with absolutely zero drag - at both close and long range. The Camou French Leader is made of captive monofilament fibre, which has almost no memory. This allows even the smallest flies to be cast easily.

We are supplying 1 x 16ft Snowbee Camou French Leaders, these are ideal when combined with your choice of tippet for presenting small flies with no drag - keeping all of the leader off the water.
