We're dipping into the archives with this fly - with a blast from the 1940's. One of our customers asked us if we do requests - "So long as it's legal", was our reply. They wanted us to reproduce some flies which were discussed in the fantastic book "Flyfishing the Welsh Borderlands" by Roger Smith (an excellent book which you can - and should buy).
The fly in question was attributed to a really interesting guy, the Rev. Edward Powell.
Paragon. This fly is another which was a tweak of a pattern originally designed by Dai Lewis (the Rev was not shy was he) and originally designed as a dark sedge imitation. The longer hackle allows this fly to float really well and the maroon colour makes it quite easy to see. This fly supposedly took 1,918 fish over 6 seasons for him - can't be any harm in giving it a go then!
These flies are available individually in sizes 12 & 16. Just click on "add to cart" and then adjust the quantity in your cart.
