Originally designed by Charles Jardine, this is a CdC dry fly built around a simple truth: a trout rising to a dun isn't inspecting your fly under a magnifying glass. It's responding to the right size, the right colour, and - crucially - the right posture in the surface film. The Duck's Dun delivers all three without fuss.
The CdC wing does the heavy lifting. Those fibres, taken from the preen gland area of a duck, trap air in a way that no synthetic can quite replicate. The result is a fly that sits exactly where a newly-hatched dun sits - in the film, not on top of it - with an almost weightless footprint that won't alarm fish in flat water. No floatant needed. If it goes under, a couple of false casts and it's fishing again.
