Designed by Niklas Dahlin, the Swedish fly designer behind our Nattsländan pattern, Nik's Chubby Beetle brings that same buoyant, durable build to a beetle that earns its place on UK Rivers and Stillwaters - not just as an attractor, but as something that actually looks like what's falling out of the trees.
Tied on the barbless AHREX FW503, size 16 - a fine-wire, light dry fly hook. It's a deliberately light hook under a heavily buoyant fly. The result is a fly that sits high, lands soft, and stays afloat cast after cast.
