We bring these Unweighted Sawyer Pheasant Tail Nymphs to you courtesy of Caledonia Fly Company.
These nymphs are as close to the original Sawyers Nymph as we have found. Frank Sawyer invented and popularised the pheasant tailed nymph with his 'sunken nymph' technique. Sawyer advocated the 'sink and draw' method of nymphing where the nymph was allowed to sink and then made to 'swim' towards the surface by drawing in the line or slowly lifting the rod tip. This was coupled with the 'induced take' where the nymph was made to swim up in front of a fish thereby inducing the fish to take. These nymphs are ideal for summer nymphing when the rivers are that bit lower - being unweighted they sink slowly and make ideal droppers for the Duo/New Zealand style of fishing.
These flies are available individually in sizes 14 & 16. Just choose the size and click on "add to cart", you can then adjust the quantities in your cart.
