A selection of 18 barbless Iron Blue imitations, comprising 3 different patterns (in 3 sizes). The Iron Blue (a common name used by anglers to refer to three separate insects):
(Alainites muticus, Baetis niger and Baetis digitatus) is a small (no larger than 1cm) upwinged fly. Hatches of Iron Blue's usually start in early May and reach their peak during mid-May, dying down again until September when they hatch again.
Descriptions of each fly contained within this selection:
Iron Blue Dun - The classic Iron Blue imitation, this version is tied in its generic form with a small red tag and a short white tail. This selection contains 2 each of sizes 14, 16 and 18.
Parachute Iron Blue - This version is tied in a parachute form with a small red tag and a short white tail. This selection contains 2 each of sizes 14, 16 and 18.
Iron Blue Emerger - This version is tied in an emerger form with a small red tag and a short white tail. This selection contains 2 each of sizes 14, 16 and 18.
