Ceramic Grayling Selection

Regular price £26.00

"Finally he opened his box for me to take a look inside and I was astonished by the nymphs he was fishing with - they really did look just like insect larvae, with different tones of rings on the body. I admit that my old pheasant tails are good nymphs but these were really extraordinary, and in a range of incredibly realistic colours: dark green, chocolate, dirty yellow - just like real caddis nymphs." - Stanislas Freyheit, November 2014

The Barbless Ceramic Grayling Selection, our friend Stanislas Freyheit has tied a special selection of barbless ceramic grayling nymphs (using quality barbless hooks). We present this selection of 16 barbless ceramic grayling nymphs in a free 8-compartment fly box and as always we offer free delivery to anywhere in the world.

Ceramic flies are a new introduction to the UK (but they originate from France where they have been successfully used for both Grayling and Brown Trout). They are made with lead wire which is then coated with a polymerized UV cure to provide their hard ceramic shell. The surface of the body is totally smooth, this feature allows them to sink faster and deeper than any other nymphs. Ceramic flies account for lots of fish on the continent because their body is made of alternate clear and dark rings which imitate the caddis and mayflies larva's found in UK rivers.

We supply these ceramic grayling nymphs in two sizes (14's & 18's), their tungsten equivalents are:

  • Size 14 Ceramic = 0.8mm Lead Wire = 0.175g = 2.5mm Tungsten Bead
  • Size 18 Ceramic = 0.5mm Lead Wire = 0.065g = 1.5mm Tungsten Bead
  •
